Marjorie Taylor Greene, wallstreetbets and the holocaust

Good insert time here to you, everyone, here's the news.

A 2020 video resurfaced of freshman US Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R, GA-14) following gun control activist David Hogg on his way to the US Capitol building. The video shows the yet-to-be-representative asking Hogg questions like "if school zones were protected by security guards with guns, there would be no mass shootings at schools, do you know that?" and "why are you using kids as a barrier?" Greene wraps the video up after Hogg leaves to claim that the only reason he's at the US Capitol is due to "major liberal funding and everything" and that "there's no defense for taking away guns."

David Hogg was a 17-year-old student of Stoneman Douglas High School at the time of the 2018 Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, FL, that killed seventeen of his classmates and wounded 17 more. The shooting occured even with an armed school resource officer on site. Hogg didn't immediately respond to the line of questioning in the video.

I want to cap this with a retort or a pun or a joke of some kind, but I'll just link to the video which is still on Marjorie Taylor Greene's YouTube page so you can see who the joke is for yourself.

* * * A group of redditors have discovered an exploitable stock market loophole where they could make trades against a large hedge fund's options and win. The subreddit wallstreetbets treats the stock market as somewhat of a casino, with less flashing lights and cigarette smoke and more memes and jokes about their wive's boyfriends.

The recent round of trades (mostly based on brick-and-mortar retailer GameStop), are increasing individual portfolios by levels of over 1000%, as investment advisor Melvin Capital is speculated to face losses upwards of $3 billion. While many who watch the market bristle at the idea of a handful of loosely-connected self-proclaimed autists gambling against Wall Street and winning, *I* wonder what the exchange rate is of $3 billion to chicken tenders.

* * * And finally, today is International Holocaust Rememberance day, where many survivors are marking the day by getting their COVID-19 vaccine.
